Yoga and Ayurveda Teacher Training Certification Programme (YATT)

Objective

Yoga and Ayurveda Teacher’s Training (YATT) is a unique Certificate program specially designed by the Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (I-AIM), Bangalore, India. It is understood that Yoga is part of Ayurvedic lifestyle and learning the Yoga Teachers Programme with an understanding of Ayurveda will give the Teachers a holistic healing approach to Yoga.

The YATT Course systematically integrates the fundamental principles of yogic philosophy and Ayurvedic philosophy, the various aspects of Yoga-Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breath mastery), Kriyas (cleansing techniques), Trataka (eye concentration) into a holistic manner, thus enabling the participant to understand and impart the knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda in its truest sense. Teachers will also learn the fundamental principles of Ayurveda in relation to Yoga with a specific focus on Ayurvedic Nutrition, Ayurvedic Panchakarma (Detox) and specific herbs and nutritional dishes for balancing the doshas. YATT Teachers will understand the Ayurveda concept of individualised body type (Vata, Pitta & Kapha) and tailor yoga classes based on the body types and specific ailments.

At the practical level, Teachers will learn the techniques of basic Yoga-asanas (postures) including the benefits & limitations of each posture and n the appropriate teaching techniques for each asana. Teachers will learn some Ayurvedic dishes and nutrition tips.

Duration

The YATT Course is a 200 hr training programme which includes theory, practical, exams and student teaching hours (students are expected to teach yoga for 100 hrs – minimum once a week before they can receive the certificate)
